Check out this article in the Times about this exhibit on knitting and needlework. It's called “Radical Lace & Subversive Knitting” and it runs at the Museum of Art and Design until June 17.
I read that this morning and I thought, Wow, this show sounds kinda... dull! But I would be interested in going to New York, eating some pastry, and spending some money at Purl.
I love that it supports craft as art though. Even though that can get pretentious and phlegmy, I appreciate the recognition of concept. Although really I think a beautifully made sweater of your own design that fits perfectly is a lot more interesting than machine-knitting a cool concept.
